Covering 9 million acres, the Texas Hill Country American Viticultural Area (AVA), stands as the 3rd largest AVA in the nation and is home to over 100 wineries with over 60 being members of Texas Hill Country Wineries.
Amidst the captivating landscape, approximately 1,000 acres of vineyards flourish, giving rise to delicious varietals rivaling and at times surpassing those grown in France, Italy and Spain – despite the area’s rich German heritage.
Neolithic Britons (or perhaps nature-worshiping Druids or even space aliens, depending on who you ask) began assembling Stonehenge on the plains of Salisbury, England more than 5000 years ago.
In the Texas Hill Country, we have our own version: Stonehenge II. Created as an art project by the late Al Shepperd and his neighbor Doug Hill, it stands on Shepperd’s land in nearby Hunt, Texas.
Stonehenge II is 90% the height and 60% the width of the original, complete with two 13-foot Easter Island head replicas.
Established in 1959, this institution celebrates both performing and visual arts. You can catch shows year-round at the 500-seat outdoor theater along the Guadalupe River or in the more intimate 95-seat indoor theater.
The art gallery and studios host a wide variety of exhibits and workshops throughout the year, making it a hub for creativity and cultural expression
